Windows’ Trojan and Virus Hell Part Two

So, as I was saying yesterday about all the trouble I was having trying to clean up my friends´ infected computer I finally got all their stuff off there computer that they wanted to save and took the cleaned and reformatted hard drive back to the ailing dung heap of a Dell computer. I spent another couple of hours reinstalling, yes, you guessed it, Windows XP all the drivers, the Verizon high speed crap, and all the accompanying updates for everything. I made it really difficult to start up Internet Explorer, installed Firefox and all the goodies that I like to go with it, installed Thunderbird, some anti-virus and finally a firewall. I felt pretty good about everything and released it back into the wild.

I let them play on it for a while, and at the end of the night while we were having a glass of wine I figured I would go in and check on things and give it a quick virus scan. Well you would not believe that two hours after I have finished putting it all back together again they had managed to get two dozen trojans on the machine and now I am back to square one. I have to back there again tomorrow night and do it all again. Ugh. I am so glad I am a Linux man, Fedora that is
