Boyish or Girlish?

Posted: April 28, 2007 in fun stuff

You Are 80% Boyish and 20% Girlish

You have a tough exterior – and usually a tough interior to match it.
You’re no nonsense, logical, and very assertive.
Sometimes you can’t understand women at all, even if you’re a woman yourself.
You see things rationally, and don’t like to let your emotions get the best of you.

Kurt Vonnegut Passes on.

Posted: April 12, 2007 in Books, News

A sad day today is. One of my favorite writers has passed on yesterday. Kurt Vonnegut, author of such books as Slaughterhouse-five and Galapagos. The New York Times has a good write up in their book section.

“Do people still know that they are going to die sooner or later? No. Fortunately, in my humble opinion, they have forgotten that.”

Kurt Vonnegut, Galapagos

Well, we remember death today. A sad day indeed.  So it goes.

The recent poisoning of pets here in the US from their food seems to have been caused by melamine a man made plastic. Researchers at Cornell have found the plastic in the urine of cats and the kidney of one cat. This find is also inclusive of the find of aminopterin found in samples of the pet food responsible.

More on the recall here. And here is the list of recalled pet foods.

Posted: April 9, 2007 in fun stuff

Your Personality is Very Rare (INTP)

Your personality type is goofy, imaginative, relaxed, and brilliant.
Only about 4% of all people have your personality, including 2% of all women and 6% of all men
You are Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Perceiving.

How Rare Is Your Personality?

Finally all of us alternate operating system users (you know Linux) can have the same privileges as all the Microsoft Windows™ users have. A Genuine Advantage, a Linux Genuine Advantage™:

  • Your computer, which worked just fine before, will continue functioning normally!
  • Our
software which you just installed will not disable logins on your
computer (as long as our license server keeps working properly)!
  • It’s totally awesome!
  • We might not raise the yearly licensing fees in the future!

So hurry and get your Linux Genuine Advantage™.

You will be able to feel like the rest of those poor abused users of proprietary software and not feel left out.

Update:  It has been cracked already!

I was directed to this little movie by Living the Scientific Life while reading ScienceBlogs. A little movie of inspiration, hope and the difference one person can make in another’s life. The movie is based on the book by Elizabeth Silance Ballard, Three Letters from Teddy and Other Stories. I have not read the book but I may just have too after watching the movie. So if you want to know what kind of impact you can make on other’s lives just click the link below and watch the movie.

Science + Art = Amazement

Posted: April 5, 2007 in Art, Science

I am always amazed when art and science meet. Something that is, well for the lack of a better term, magical. This is the case with ferrofluids and artists when they come together. Morpho Towers is a site were the two of these mixtures come together and make magic. Watch the movie and be amazed.
